For large or heavy items that are too big for standard shipping, Vicrez uses Freight Shipping. This service ensures that your oversized products are delivered safely using specialized carriers. Here’s everything you need to know about how freight shipping works and what to expect.
What is Freight Shipping?
Freight shipping is used for items that are oversized, bulky, or heavy—too large to ship via standard UPS or USPS ground services. These items are shipped by LTL (Less-than-Truckload) carriers, such as UPS Freight or similar services, which specialize in transporting larger products.
How Freight Shipping Works:
-
Delivery Schedule:
- Freight shipments are not delivered like standard packages. The carrier will typically contact you to schedule a delivery appointment to ensure you’re available to receive the shipment.
-
Receiving Your Shipment:
- When the freight shipment arrives, it is important to inspect the item before signing for the delivery. Look for any visible signs of damage to the packaging.
- If you see any damage, you may request to open the package to inspect the product. If the driver does not allow this, or if you discover any damage during the inspection, refuse the shipment and contact us immediately.
-
Freight Shipping Times:
- Freight shipments generally take between 5-7 business days to arrive within the 48 contiguous U.S. states.
- Delays may occur if the carrier is unable to contact you to schedule the delivery or if you are unavailable during the scheduled delivery window.
What to Do When Receiving a Freight Shipment:
-
Inspect for Damage:
- When your freight shipment arrives, carefully inspect the item for any signs of damage.
- If you notice any damage to the packaging or the product, take clear photos of the damage before the driver leaves.
- If the product is visibly damaged, you may refuse the shipment and contact us immediately so we can arrange for a replacement.
-
Signing for Delivery:
- Only sign the delivery paperwork once you have fully inspected the shipment. By signing the delivery receipt, you confirm that the product was delivered in good condition.
-
Concealed Damage:
- Sometimes, damage may not be visible until you unpack the product. If you discover damage after the driver has left, contact our customer service team immediately to file a claim.
Additional Freight Shipping Fees
While many freight shipments are covered under our standard shipping rates, certain conditions may result in additional fees. These include:
- Storage Fees: If you are unavailable to receive the delivery and the carrier has to store the item, storage fees may apply.
- Redelivery Fees: If the carrier attempts delivery and is unable to complete it due to your unavailability, a redelivery fee may be charged.
- Limited Access Fees: If the delivery address has limited access, such as in rural areas or restricted facilities, additional fees may apply.
Important Notes About Freight Shipments
- Freight Items Are Non-Returnable: Once freight items are shipped and delivered in good condition, they cannot be returned. Ensure that you carefully inspect the product before signing for it.
- Freight Deliveries Require a Physical Address: Freight carriers cannot deliver to P.O. boxes, so be sure to provide a valid street address during checkout.
- Signature Confirmation: All freight shipments require a signature upon delivery, so someone must be available to sign for the package.
